Re-instating this blog

Today I’m re-instating this blog.

For me, the process of writing has always been rewarding, it’s reflective and helps clarify and organize my thoughts. Writing in public only adds extra pressure to this organizing principle.

For whatever reason, the outdated build system on the previous site, ended up getting in the way of me writing here more easily. We live and learn, and over the last couple of years I switched back to mostly writing into private Obsidian notes.

However with time, I started to miss having this blog. Being able to post my learnings in public and having them in a centralized place, like this, makes things so much easier to reference and share.

I tried switching the old site from Jekyll to Hugo, but it never felt like I was completely in charge of the way in which I wanted to organize, write and present my content. I even tried NextJS, but this felt way too heavy handed for a personal site like this.

Recently though, while working on a Cursor side-project, me and Claude ended up in a small love-triangle with Vue.
Looking around for some Vue resources, I realised you can plug it’s components directly into something like Astro, combined with Vite, it easily makes the most enjoyable writing / developing experience I’ve ever had for this site.

So now it’s 2025, and we’re looking down the barrel of a tidal wave of regurgitated AI content slop.

More than ever, it feels like the perfect moment to carve back this little space to publish my own human thoughts.
